Railways to introduce new trains

The Railways have decided to introduce a new series of 17 'Sampark Kranti Express' trains as part of National Democratic Alliance government's connectivity revolution that would provide quicker connectivity from states to the national capital, New Delhi.

These trains will have value added features non-stop run beyond the States, dedicated staff throughout the run and public address system, Railway Minister Nitish Kumar in his Interim Railway Budget presented to the Lok Sabha on Friday.

The service, first of its kind, is being introduced with a Kranti express from Delhi (Nizamuddin) to Bangalore (Yashwantpur) from February eight this year. While it will initially run as a tri-weekly train, it will be made daily from October 2.

The other trains in the series would be Poorvottar Sampark Kranti Express from New Delhi to Guwahati, Andhra Pradesh Sampark Kranti Express from Delhi (Nizamuddin) to Secunderabad, Bihar Sampark Kranti Express from New Delhi to Samastipur and Chhattisgarh Sampark Kranti Express from Delhi (Nizamuddin) to Durg.

Among the new trains are Gujarat Sampark Kranti Express from New Delhi to Ahmedabad, Jharkand Sampark Kranti Express from New Delhi to Ranchi, Kerala Sampark Kranti Express from Delhi (Nizamuddin) to Trivandrum (Kochuveli), Maharashtra Sampark Kranti Express from Delhi (Nizamuddin) to Mumbai (Bandra) and Madhya Pradesh Sampark Kranti Express from Delhi (Nizamuddin) to Jabalpur.

It also includes Orissa Sampark Kranti Express from New Delhi to Bhubaneswar, Rajasthan Sampark Kranti Express from Delhi to Jodhpur, Tamil Nadu Sampark Kranti Express from Delhi (Nizamuddin) to Madurai, UP Sampark Kranti Express from Delhi (Nizamuddin) to Chitrakoot, Uttaranchal Sampark Kranti Express from to Delhi to Kathgodam, West Begal Sampark Kranti Express from New Delhi and Kolkata (Sealdah), Goa Sampark Kranti Express from Delhi (Nizamuddin) to Madgaon and Uttar Sampark Kranti Express from Delhi to Udhampur to cater to Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana.
