Maruti cars to cost 2.5 % more
December 13, 2004 20:44 IST
Maruti Udyog on Monday said its cars were set to become dearer by 2-2.5% owing to rise in steel prices and technology cost for new emission norms. "Though the price rise will vary from model to model, the maximum hike will be to the tune of 2-2.5% with the steepest hike on Baleno," MUL managing director Jagdish Khattar said on Monday.
The increase in prices is primarily attributable to the costs of meeting new emission norms, which come into force next year.
Hyundai, General Motors, Skoda Auto India and Ford Motors have also announced price hikes over the last couple of days.
