Tatas pay Rs 545 cr for single licence

Tatas on Friday paid about Rs 545 crore (Rs 5.45 billion) to the government to migrate to the new single licence regime in its four existing circles, including Gujarat and Karnataka.

"We have paid Rs 545 crore to the department of telecom for migration to unified regime in our four existing circles of Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Delhi," Ashok Sud, chief regulatory officer of Tata Teleservices, said in New Delhi.

The company was required to pay an additional entry fee of Rs 69.01 crore (Rs 690.1 million) for migrating to unified licence in Gujarat circle; Rs 171.83 crore (Rs 1.72 billion) for Karnataka circle; Rs 183 crore (Rs 1.83 billion) for Tamil Nadu (including Chennai circle), and Rs 120.7 crore (Rs 1.21 billion) for Delhi.
