Hutch lowers cellular tariffs

To compete with limited mobility telephony operators, Hutchison on Wednesday lowered STD tariff at Rs 1.99 per minute anywhere in India on any other cellular phone.
For the non-cellular phones, the tariff would be calculated on the basis of distance and for 50-500 km, the STD call would now cost Rs 2.99 a minute. For a distance of over 500 km, it has been fixed at Rs 3.99 a minute.
International long-distance tariff has been fixed at Rs 15.99 a minute.
In the local call segment, Hutch has reduced the tariff to Rs 1.49 on another cellular phone, while Rs 1.99 on non-cellular phone per minute with a monthly rental of Rs 349.
The company has also announced four different tariff plans called -- Talk 349, Talk 599, Talk 999 and Talk 1699.
In the Talk 1699, a local outgoing call would cost only Rs 0.40 a minute on another cellular phone, while on non-cellular phone it would cost Rs 0.60 a minute.
Similarly, in Talk 599 plan, an outgoing call will cost Rs 0.50 and Rs 1.00 on cellular and non-cellular phone, respectively.
In Talk 999, the call would cost Rs 0.50 and Rs 0.75 per minute, respectively, on cellular and non-cell phones, company release said.
In the pre-paid category, the outgoing local call will cost Rs 2.40 and Rs 2.80 a minute on another cellular and non-cellular phone, respectively.
The STD rate on pre-paid category has been fixed at Rs 2.99 a minute on another cellular phone anywhere in India.
While on non-cellular phones, except for a distance slab of 50-200 km, where a one-minute STD call would cost higher at Rs 3.49, all other tariffs mirror post paid category.
