Hutch lowers cellular tariffs

May 07, 2003 20:45 IST

To compete with limited mobility telephony operators, Hutchison on Wednesday lowered STD tariff at Rs 1.99 per minute anywhere in India on any other cellular phone.

For the non-cellular phones, the tariff would be calculated on the basis of distance and for 50-500 km, the STD call would now cost Rs 2.99 a minute. For a distance of over 500 km, it has been fixed at Rs 3.99 a minute.

International long-distance tariff has been fixed at Rs 15.99 a minute.

In the local call segment, Hutch has reduced the tariff to Rs 1.49 on another cellular phone, while Rs 1.99 on non-cellular phone per minute with a monthly rental of Rs 349.

The company has also announced four different tariff plans called -- Talk 349, Talk 599, Talk 999 and Talk 1699.

In the Talk 1699, a local outgoing call would cost only Rs 0.40 a minute on another cellular phone, while on non-cellular phone it would cost Rs 0.60 a minute.

Similarly, in Talk 599 plan, an outgoing call will cost Rs 0.50 and Rs 1.00 on cellular and non-cellular phone, respectively.

In Talk 999, the call would cost Rs 0.50 and Rs 0.75 per minute, respectively, on cellular and non-cell phones, company release said.

In the pre-paid category, the outgoing local call will cost Rs 2.40 and Rs 2.80 a minute on another cellular and non-cellular phone, respectively.

The STD rate on pre-paid category has been fixed at Rs 2.99 a minute on another cellular phone anywhere in India.

While on non-cellular phones, except for a distance slab of 50-200 km, where a one-minute STD call would cost higher at Rs 3.49, all other tariffs mirror post paid category.
