Jet Air, Amadeus tie-up for automated ticketing
March 12, 2003 16:35 IST
Private domestic airline, Jet Airways said on Wednesday that it has tied up with travel industry service provider, Amadeus India to provide automated ticketing solutions to travel agents.
With this alliance, Amadeus' Central Ticketing Server would now capture all bookings made on Jet Airways by agents across India and would post the data records to the airline everyday.
This would enable the airline to access detailed sales reports at the end of each day as against once a fortnight earlier, a Jet statement said.
Amadeus automated ticket printers would be installed at travel agency locations, free of cost, which would enable them to edit a ticket, save it in a local database and preview it before finally printing it thus minimising errors arising from manual work.
Amadeus has already done a pilot project for Jet with its central ticketing product at 30 agency outlets and is now targeting another 100 agents in the next phase.
"The agreement with Jet Airways is an important milestone in our overall strategy of consolidating Amadeus' global leadership in aviation IT solutions. This is our first major step in this arena within the Indian subcontinent and we are sure it will serve as a building block for future activities," Tim Russell, director, marketing management of Amadeus Asia said.
Jet Airways, which is the country's largest private airline operates 33 Boeing and eight ATR turbo-prop aircraft.
