Tata Teleservices has cut its domestic long distance telephony rates by 47 per cent. The new tariff rates, announced this afternoon, will be effective for distances beyond 500 kilometers.

As per the tariff cut, STD rates will fall from Rs 9 per min to Rs 4.80 per min.

The fall in tariff would benefit all the 3 segments of Tata Teleservices customers: Landline, CDMA mobile & fixed wireless customers.

Earlier Tata Teleservices customers spread across the 6 circles -- Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh -- were paying Rs 9 per min during peak hours and Rs 4.50 per min during off peak hours for long distance calls made beyond 500 km.

Tariffs for other distance slabs remain the same.

The new rates will be valid from March 7 to March 31. Tata Teleservices will unveil a new tariff packages after that.
