Dhirender Singh appointed as new divestment secretary

In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the government on Monday appointed Dhirender Singh as the new divestment secretary and K K Jaiswal as the new IT secretary.

Singh, a 1968 batch IAS officer of the Karnataka cadre, would replace S S Meenakshisundaram, who has been appointed as financial advisor and ex-officio secretary in the department of space, the sources said in New Delhi.

Concurrently, Meenaskshisundaram would also be a member of the Atomic Commission and the Space Commission.

R R Shah has been moved from the IT ministry to the department of industry as secretary.

Till now, Jaiswal was holding the charge of secretary, department of statistics, while Singh was brought into the divestment ministry from defence production, where he was serving as special secretary.
