Haryana to set up shopping malls

Modern shopping malls and multiplex complexes would be set up in all cities of Haryana, an official spokesman said.

He said that this was informed in a meeting of the deputy commissioners and superintendents of police presided over by Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, on Thursday.

Financial Commissioner Town and Country Planning Bhaskar Chatterjee said that the process to set up these malls would be initiated from next month. The setting up of malls would result in increase in economic activity in the state, the spokesman said.

Chautala reviewed the progress of developmental works being undertaken under the 'Sarkar Aapke Dwar' programme. It was informed that almost all works announced under the first two phases of the programme had already been completed and those announced under the third phase were in progress.

He directed the district administration to complete the remaining works by March 31 next so as to fulfil the aspirations of the people.

While referring to the issue of government offices being run in rented buildings, Chautala said that a survey should be got conducted to identify those buildings which were owned by the government, but were not being utilised properly.
