Syed Amin Jafri in Hyderabad | April 22, 2003 15:01 IST

The lorry operators' strike has been called off in Andhra Pradesh with immediate effect.

Following a series of talks with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Transport Minister M Damodar Reddy and state government officials on Tuesday, the AP Lorry Owners' Association entered into an agreement with the government on Tuesday afternoon.

AP Lorry Owners' Association office-bearers said they decided to call off the strike with immediate effect, after the state government clarified its stand on several of their main demands.

Further details were yet to be announced on the terms of settlement of the row.
