Infosys plans 2,400-strong Chandigarh centre

Infosys Technologies Ltd, India's No 2 software services exporter, said on Friday it plans to set up a development centre in Chandigarh that will accommodate 2,400 employees over the next five years.

The Bangalore-based company said in a statement it had entered into an agreement with the Union Territory of Chandigarh Administration to buy 20 acres of land there.

It did not provide any financial details.

The company already has a 200-people strong software centre in Mohali, an adjoining township.

Infosys, a showpiece of India's software revolution, employs more than 13,000 people at its centres spread across India, the United States and Europe.

The Nasdaq-listed company caters to more than 300 clients including financial giants Citigroup and American Express.
