Bangalore decks up for Bill GatesFakir Chand in Bangalore Bangalore's tryst with the world's richest man will take place on Wednesday when Microsoft chief Bill Gates arrives in the city on a visit. Though Gates could not make it to this high-tech capital during his last two visits to India in 1997 and 2000, his arrival this time has created a lot of excitement among the geeks. Gates will spend most of his time on the outskirts of Bangalore, visiting mainly Infosys and Wipro, India's IT mascots in the global tech arena. True to his form and spirit, his first encounter will be with about 2500 software developers at the sprawling Infosys campus, at a 45-minute programme titled 'Bill Gates Live'. Apart from giving a talk on current and emerging trends, Gates will interact with many of the young developers in the morning. Later, Gates will address the media in the company of Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna and IT czars like Infosys leaders N R Narayana Murthy and Nandan N Nilekani. According to Microsoft sources, Gates will also talk on the piracy issue and the need for stringent anti-piracy measures. A meeting with leading CEOs and NASSCOM members is also scheduled. Sources told rediff.com that Gates may spring a surprise by making a major investment in or partnership announcement with Infosys after meeting its management. After a buggy ride around Infosys and planting a sapling on its grounds, Gates will drive to the adjacent Wipro campus for a tête-à-tête with its Chairman Azim H Premji. He will also address Wiproites and interact with its honchos, including Vice-Chairman and CEO Vivek Paul, during a one-hour programme in the campus. Gates will fly to Mumbai later in the afternoon for a half-day trip, and leave for Hyderabad on Wednesday night.
