Privatisation panel likely to meet on Friday

India's privatisation panel is expected to meet on Friday to discuss stake sales in a clutch of state run firms, a government official said on Thursday.

"The panel is likely to meet on Friday afternoon," a divestment ministry official, who did not wish to be identified, told Reuters.

He said the committee is likely to approve divestment of 51 per cent stake in Fertiliser & Chemicals Travancore.

The panel, headed by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, is also expected to decide the sale of five hotels of Indian Tourism and Development Corporation and finalise the shareholders agreement for Hindustan Organic Chemicals and paper manufacturing unit NEPA.
