Nalco not to be privatised: Paswan

National Aluminium Company, the profit-making private sector unit, will not be privatised despite the Centre deciding to divest 30 per cent stake in the company, said Minister for mines Ram Vilas Paswan at Angul in Orissa on Thursday.

Paswan, who visited the Angul smelter and captive power plant of Nalco, told plant executives and workers that apprehensions about the company's privatisation were baseless.

Pointing out that the government held 87 per cent stake in Nalco, Paswan said that even after divesting 30 per cent, the government would still have total control over the company with a stake of 57 per cent.
