Air-India security achieves ISO certification

Air-India's security department became the first aviation security organisation in the world to be certified under ISO:9001-2000.

The certificate was handed over to Air-India's officiating managing director J N Gogoi by Civil Aviation Minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain at a function held at A-I headquarters in Bombay.

Air-India's security department was certified under ISO:9002-1994 standards on January 31 this year.

An Air-India release stated that in a short span of nine months Air-India security enhanced its service levels and achieved the levels required under the revised standards of ISO:9001-2000 and on October 9 it was re-certified under the new revised standards.

''The new standards requires the organisation to view their system as a process and focus on customer service and humane factors,'' the release further stated.
