Rakesh Mohan, Sinha's economic adviser, quits

The economic adviser to Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha, Rakesh Mohan, said on Friday he had decided to quit his post for personal reasons.

The infrastructure sector specialist, who became Sinha's adviser about a year ago, told reporters he planned to rejoin the Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation.

He rejected media speculation that he was quitting because he felt he had been sidelined by senior finance ministry bureaucrats.

"The question of sidelining does not arise. I am more than satisfied with my short tenure in the finance ministry," he said in response to the media reports.

He said he had asked to be relieved from his post 'due to personal reasons'.
