Centre keen to resolve DPC dispute: PrabhuUnion Power Minister Suresh Prabhu said that the Centre has adopted a pro-active attitude to find a solution to the dispute between Maharashtra State Electricity Board and Dabhol Power Company. Speaking to mediapersons after a seminar on national conference on power reforms at the state level in Bombay on Monday, Prabhu said that on Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh's request the Centre had appointed A V Gokak as its nominee on the renegotiation committee for the power purchase agreement. "We are ready to provide any type of help to resolve the issue," Prabhu added. However, he declined to comment on Deshmukh's charge that the Centre was not co-operating with the state government to resolve the Enron issue. Incidentally, the renegotiation committee set up to discuss the power purchase agreement with Enron-promoted Dabhol Power Company is scheduled to meet DPC representatives in Bombay on Tuesday. Prabhu confirmed that the Centre was ready to consider any worthwhile idea emerging out of the renegotiating committee for the settlement of the dispute. Any proposal has to be acceptable to the MSEB and DPC, who are the main parties to the dispute.
