Wipro sets up dedicated ODC for Ericsson

Wipro Technologies Ltd has becomes the first Indian software services company to set up a dedicated offshore development center for Ericsson.

The Bangalore-based leading global provider of high-end IT solutions has also been appointed as a preferred supplier for consultancy services within the field of R&D consulting by the global telecom giant.

The scope of this relationship covers areas, including enterprise systems, data networks, IP services, wireless communication, and Internet applications.

It may be recalled that Wipro started its relationship with Ericsson two years ago, and is providing services to the company's design centers worldwide.

According Wipro president for telecom and Internetworking Dr A L Rao, the strategic relationship with Ericsson represents a significant milestone in the achievements of our telecom practice.

"We have been working with some of the leading telecom companies in the US, Europe and Japan, helping them develop products for the New Economy. We are confident of delivering world class product development services to Ericsson," Rao affirmed in Bangalore on Friday.

Wipro has also been a pioneer in establishing global distributed development centers for delivering cost effective IT services.
