Mahajan to lead CII delegation to USPramod Mahajan, Union Minister for Information Technology, will lead CII's infotech team to the Information Technology Association of America's 40th executive management conference and CEO summit in Orlando being held from June 24 to June 27. Mahajan will deliver the keynote address at the summit on June 26, meet leaders of top IT companies in the US and participate in the Confederation of Indian Industry networking reception. ITAA is the only trade association representing the $740-billion information technology business in the US. The ITAA executive management conference and CEO summit is one of the biggest IT events in the US. In 1999, the summit was attended by 400 delegates and this year over 500 CEOs, executive V-Ps, principals and directors are expected to participate. In keeping with the profile of the event, CII is taking a strong team of Indian IT companies to the summit and is also a platinum sponsor of the event. The team includes Infosys Technologies, Tata Consultancy Services, Satyam Computer Limited, NIIT, iGate Capital, TechSpan Inc., MindTree Consulting, Tata Infotech, Zensar Technologies KLG Systel and Talisma. In addition to participating at the ITAA Summit, CII is organising in New York on June 28, a breakfast meeting with CTOs of NYSE-listed companies, a roadshow, and a meeting with Nasdaq officials. The theme of the 'Source India' roadshow, which would be attended by senior executives of top US corporates, is: 'benefits of outsourcing to India'. On June 29, the CII team will meet top US corporates such as IBM and Merrill Lynch and others who spend significantly on IT. The visit of the team is the first in the series of CII's recently launched "Customer Connect Programme". CII feels that under the pressure of the "slowdown" US corporates are looking for productivity enhancement, cost cutting and sustainable bottomlines like never before. As a part of this programme, CII plans to leverage its international linkages with 190 institutional partners in 92 countries and connect Indian IT companies with potential clients/partners in major markets such as the US, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America. |
