PeopleSoft partners with Hexaware to offer Internet solutions

Fakir Chand in Bangalore

PeopleSoft India Ltd, the wholly owned subsidiary of the US-based PeopleSoft Inc, which provides e-business applications, has entered into technology partnership with the Madras-based Hexaware Technologies Ltd for providing end-to-end enterprise solutions which drive businesses on the Internet.

As a consulting alliance partner, PeopleSoft will license its proprietary software products to customers through Hexaware, which will develop and customise e-business applications using the partner's open and flexible e-commerce platform.

"Being the only vendor to offer Internet enterprise solutions, we see immense opportunities in the Indian market to provide customer relationship management, supply chain management, and enterprise performance management solutions to even brick and mortar companies which are keen on migrating to the web as a marketing strategy for a competitive edge, said Peoplesoft country manager Thiru Vengadam in Bangalore on Tuesday.

The $1.7 billion global company's solutions enable enterprises to compete effectively in e-commerce as well as manage internal operations on the Internet. "Our applications for e-business are designed to deliver. The short and long-term benefits of deploying our products are: improving time-to-market, reducing operating costs, decreasing total cost of ownership, and exploring new business opportunities," Vengadam affirmed.

PeopleSoft CRM with the Vantive Enterpise is a proven, Internet-ready system that connects sales, marketing, contract, field service, help desk, and customer service operations. Available as a standalone CRM applications suite, Vantive enables companies to manage e-customer relationships through any channel of interaction, viz., the web, phone, email, or fax.

Similarly, PeopleSoft has a host of applications that cater to the varied needs of customers who may require its human resource management system, financial management, and treasury management.

As a SEI CMM Level 5 global company, Hexaware will assist organisations to define, develop, implement, and manage solutions to operate effectively in the new economy. "The solutions will be available in the areas of e-commerce, banking and financial services, enterprise application integration, and application management," company's executive director P K Sridharan said.

The Rs1.5-billion Hexaware will also provide a variety of PeopleSoft related services to various Fortune 500 companies in the financial, education, and transportation industry segments. Some of its global clients include AXA group, Alliance Capital, British Medical Association, Citibank, Digica, IBM, IDBI Bank, and Stanchart Bank.

"In the wake of technology meltdown in the US, the company is increasingly turning towards to Europe and other hot markets in the Asian-Pacific regions. We have already started operating from the UK, France, and Germany. We have a domain expertise in e-commerce, EAI, and application management," Sridharan stated.

Hexaware's expertise in e-commerce and m-commerce provides customers innovative and smart solutions by leveraging the emerging technologies and business models to transform them from legacy systems to the Internet.

"In the wake of our strategic acquisition of Aptech Ltd last year, plans are underway to merge its software division with our global development centres at Madras and Bombay in India, and Princeton in the US, by this month-end," Sridharan claimed.
