Reliance official held on sexual harassment charge

M I Khan in Bhubaneswar

The Bhubaneswar police, late on Wednesday night, arrested Raj Kishor Prusti -- the Orissa regional head of Reliance Mobile Limited -- on charges of sexual harassament of a lady executive.

Police produced Prusti in the Bhubaneswar court on Thursday and he was later remanded to judicial custody.

Bhubaneswar Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Sarangi told rediff.com that police arrested Prusti after the lady lodged a complaint on Wednesday alleging harassment by Prusti.

"We have booked Prusti under sections 294, 364, 509, and 506 of the India Penal Code," Sarangi said.

He informed that the lady, in her complaint, stated that Prusti passed lewd remarks and scolded her in foul language in his office.

Sources said that Jayanti Chand, customer care executive at the Reliance Mobile office in Bhubaneswar, also made a request for police protection.

Reliance Mobile is maintaining a studied silence in this regard. Repeated attempts by rediff.com to contact Reliance Mobile bosses for an official version drew a blank.
