CII discusses IT ventures with British honchos

Confederation of Indian Industry has discussed with its British counterpart opportunities for joint ventures in information technology, financial services and infrastructure development.

"This time our focus was on IT and financial services and we have succeeded in our mission in driving home the fact that the Indian IT software is the best in the world in quality and standard," CII President Sanjiv Goenka, who led the 11-member delegation said.

The CII delegation on Thursday concluded its four-day mission to the United Kingdom.

Goenka said the government had made policy congenial to the growth of the IT industry, and the entrepreneurs here and elsewhere have now recognised the fact that 'India is here to stay' in spearheading the IT revolution.

The delegation had a series of interactive sessions with members of Confederation of British Industry on economic reforms taking place in India in a phased manner, opportunity for joint ventures in IT field and infrastructure development.

At an interactive session held at India House on Wednesday, Goenka said, "The reforms were moving ahead in a step by step manner avoiding pitfalls experienced by other countries including China, which currently has 500 billion dollars worth non-performing assets."

"We have a strong commitment for integration of Indian economy with global economy," he said adding that in the recent budget the finance minister had spelt out a number of measures in this regard.
