Mauritius to hire Indian IT professionalsMauritius Prime Minister Anerood Jugnauth Wednesday said his country would hire Indian information technology professionals and learn from the Indian experience to make the Indian Ocean island a knowledge country in IT and also be a leader in the sector in the region. Arriving in Bangalore, India's IT capital, on a two-day visit from New Delhi, Jugnauth told reporters Mauritius would seek India's assistance to set up a cyber city there. "We have to learn a lot from this country in IT," Jugnauth said at the airport after being received by Karnataka Governor V S Rama Devi, Chief Minister S M Krishna and other officials. "We want to set up a cyber city and make Mauritius a knowledge country in IT, and also a leader in that region. We need a lot of resources, especially human resources, to train our people," he said. Jugnauth, on a ten-day visit to India, his first bilateral one abroad after coming to power last September, said Mauritius would hire Indian IT professionals but declined to put a number to it at this stage. "Sure, we will do that," he said when asked if Mauritius would hire Indian IT professionals. "I can't say exactly how many (will be hired) but it will be important." Stating that Mauritius enjoyed a traditional relation with India and that ties were being further strengthened, Jugnauth said Mauritius would sign new trade and bilateral agreements with India but did not elaborate. Before emplaning for Puttaparthi Thursday, Jugnauth is scheduled to visit Bharat Electronics Limited, Infosys Technologies Limited and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.
