Govt to reduce stake in BHEL to 51%

The government has decided to bring down its stake in the navaratna public sector unit Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd from 67 per cent to 51 per cent, Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister Manohar Joshi said on Wednesday.

A proposal would be presented to the department of divestment before the end of the current fiscal, he said.

BHEL would, however, continue to be a public sector undertaking, Joshi said.
