RBI union plans one-day strike on Sep 6

A union representing nearly 14,000 clerks of the Reserve Bank of India said on Thursday it will observe a one-day strike on September 6.

"The apathetic attitude of the management of the RBI in the matter of resolving issues related to class III staff (clerks) of the bank has injured the sentiment of the employees," a statement from the All India Reserve Bank Employees Association said.

The statement said that while various benefits were being given to officers, clerks were being discriminated against, forcing them to announce a strike.

Union members said clearing house operations might be affected as its clerks are also expected to join the strike.
