DGDA imposes anti-dumping duties on UAE white cementThe designate anti-dumping authority has recommended imposition of definitive anti-dumping duties of $32 per MT on imports of white cement from United Arab Emirates and a duty of $38 per MT on such imports from Iran. The Directorate General of Anti-dumping and Allied Duties, under the commerce ministry in its final findings has confirmed its earlier findings that there is a causal link between the dumping of the subject goods from the subject countries and injury being caused to the domestic industry. The DGAD had received a petition from Grasim Industries Ltd and JK Synthetics Ltd alleging dumping of white cement from the two countries. The investigation was conducted from the period January 1999 to June 2000. After considering the various aspects the DGAD had concluded, "white cement has been exported to India from UAE and Iran below its normal value". Further, the Indian industry has suffered injury and injury has been caused by the dumped imports from the subject countries. White cement, is a construction material used for non-structural purposes such as flooring of tiles, cement based exteriors, paints and cement varnish.
