Transfer of A-I management will improve efficiency: Minister

The transfer of management control of Air-India to a strategic partner post-divestment would bring in efficient management practices, which would help the company attain greater operational efficiency and optimum utilisation of resources, Civil Aviation Minister Sharad Yadav said on Monday.

Though the airline had decided not to purchase any aircraft before completion of the divestment process, it had taken four Airbus A310-300 aircraft on dry lease to augment its routes and passenger traffic.

He, however, refused to give an estimate of the bid amount of the lone bidder, Tata-Singapore Airline consortium, for the 40 per cent equity of Air India.
