Forex reserves swell to $43.682 billion

The total foreign exchange reserves of the country continued to soar and moved up further by $78 million to $43.682 billion during the week ended July 27, 2001 as compared to $43.604 billion of the previous week.

In rupee terms, the forex reserve rose by Rs 5.34 billion to Rs 2,059.75 billion from Rs 2,054.41 billion a week before.

The Reserve Bank of India's latest bulletin on forex reserves showed that the net foreign currency assets also improved by $73 million to $40.875 billion during the same week from $40.802 billion.

The special drawing rights also increased by $5 million to $9 million from $4 million of the previous week.

However, total gold reserves remained unchanged at $27.98 billion.
