Goldman lists Rediff among Asia’s top
India Abroad News Service, September 28, 2000
Even though Asian internet companies are out of favour due to seasonal weaknesses and industry consolidation, investors still
have a chance to pick up strong companies like Rediff.com which have good long-term valuations, international management
consultancy firm Goldman Sachs has said.
Rediff.com, in fact, is the only Indian entity figuring in a list of five Asian internet firms that have been rated highly by the United
States based consultants in a study on the internet industry in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Mumbai-based portal has been described as "A Jewel in the Crown," in the study titled "Diamonds in the Rough." The
Goldman Sachs study has, however, listed three primary risk factors for Asian internet firms. They are macro-economic
worries, ineffective use of cash and increasing competition from US companies.
