Even celebrities end up wearing the same outfit on the red carpet from time to time. In a size-up that compares Kangna Ranaut to Keira Knightley, Padma Lakshmi to Alessandra Ambrosio, and several other stars both desi and international sporting the same ensembles, we ask you to vote for the better look!
It happens to the best of us. You spend days planning your ensemble for a special occasion, down to the tiniest detail, and then you see someone else wearing the very same outfit!
And no, not even A-listers and their well-informed stylists are safe from such clashes of couture.
So in the following pages, we bring you fashion mash-ups from various red carpets across the world, with several high-profile celebs ending up in garments previously spotted on some other star. Take the poll at the bottom of each page and tell us who you think pulled off each look better!
Deepika Padukone and Jenny McCarthy in Dolce & Gabbana
Dippy zeroed in on this stunning sequinned Dolce & Gabbana gown for the Vogue Beauty Awards held in Mumbai in August last year -- Jenny wore it nearly four months later, to the
Rolling Stone Magazine Official 2012 American Music Awards VIP After Party in Los Angeles, California.
Jennifer Lopez and Heidi Klum in KaufmanFranco
While the singer-actress squeezed her legendary curves into a matt white version of this sexy halterneck for the movie premiere of Parker in Las Vegas this January, German supermodel Heidi opted for black sequins to attend the Toys'R'Us Children's Fund Gala in New York last month.
Miranda Kerr and Kim Kardashian in Stella McCartney
This cocktail with its mesh panels looks dramatically different on the Aussie supermodel and voluptuous reality star! Kim wore it first when she visited London in May 2012 to launch US weight management product QuickTrim; Miranda followed suit at the Hollywood premiere of Paul McCartney's video 'My Valentine' in April this year.
Keira Knightley and Kangna Ranaut in Burberry Prorsum
In January 2012, the British actress attended the London premiere of her movie A Dangerous Method wearing this Burberry creation in deep maroon. Her desi counterpart opted for a lighter shade sans the slit on the bodice four months later, for Karan Johar's birthday party. Suprising, considering how bold Kang's wardrobe usually is!
Kylie Minogue and Miley Cyrus in Emilio Pucci
Both these songstresses certainly don't mind taking the risque route from time to time. Kylie wore this stunning sheer-panelled number in red to the amfAR's Cinema Against AIDS at Cannes in May 2012 and Miley donned the black version for the MTV Video Music Awards in September.
Shakira and Pink in Balmain
It's rare for two celebs to turn up at the same event looking like twins -- luckily for their stylists, both Pink and Shakira have a sense of humour. When they both attended the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards in New York wearing the same Balmain mini, they even gamely posed together on the red carpet.
Evelyn Sharma and Neha Dhupia in Sailex
In a fashion faux pas closer home, the senior actress ended up wearing the same ogle-worthy grey dress to the Colors TV Party in February that starlet Evelyn showed off to perfection at the Vogue India anniversary bash in September last year.
Katy Perry and Ashlee Simpson in Temperley London
While this ethereal design struggled to contain Katy's ample curves at the 2012 ASCAP POP Music Awards last April, it practically hung off Ashlee's slim frame at HBO's Annual Emmy Awards Post Awards Reception in September.
Leigh Lezark and Katie Holmes in Tom Ford
American deejay and model Leigh was spotted first in this peek-a-boo mesh and velour midi, when she attended LE BAL hosted by MAC and Carine Roitfeld as part of Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013 in October. However, Katie looked equally electrifying in a hot purple version of the dress two months later, at the '12-12-12' concert benefiting The Robin Hood Relief Fund in NY.
Padma Lakshmi and Alessandra Ambrosio in Zuhair Murad Couture
Tough call -- one's a former supermodel, the other's a current supermodel. Padma was the first to wear this strapless lace beauty to the The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences 2012 Creative Arts Emmy Awards in September. That said, Brazilian babe Alessandra looked equally amazing in it at amfAR's Inspiration Gala a month later.
Shalom Harlow and Brooklyn Decker in Stella McCartney
Stella McCartney's optical illusion dresses were a big hit with the star brigade last year, so it's hardly surprising that both catwalk queens zeroed in on this one. Shalom wore it to the Stella McCartney Special Presentation during London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2012 in February and Brooklyn to the Tokyo premiere of her movie Battleship two months later.
Angelina Jolie and Christina Aguilera in Michael Kors
This lace-panelled gown couldn't look more different on both A-listers, particularly since one is slim and brunette, the other blonde and curvy. Angie wore it to the Annual Producers Guild Awards in January 2012, while Xtina used it to highlight her fuller figure at the 2012 NCLR ALMA Awards in Pasadena last September.
Jacqueline Fernandez and Ashley Benson in Amit GT
Our Sri Lankan import chose a more demure version of this Amit GT fishtail for the GQ Men of The Year Awards in September 2012. American actress Ashley, however, went all out with the keyhole neckline at the February 2013 premiere of her movie Spring Breakers in Paris.
Naomi Watts and Chrissy Teigen in Alexander McQueen
Two high-profile events within a month of each other, two stars and one amazing gown. Naomi shone in this backless sequinned stunner at the 39th Annual People's Choice Awards in January this year and in February, Sports Illustrated supermodel Chrissy was spotted in it at the 2013 Vanity Fair Oscar Party.
Selena Gomez and Michele Hicks in Dolce & Gabbana
This lovely D&G number managed to reel in both ladies last September -- Selena chose it for the Spring Breakers Photocall during the 69th Venice Film Festival and Michele for the 2012 Metropolitan Opera Season Opening Night performance of L'Elisir D'Amore in New York.
Sonam Kapoor and Dita Von Teese in Elie Saab
Fashionista that she is, Sonam managed to best the burlesque star when it came to this fabulous lace flouncer by Elie Saab. She wore it to the Cannes Opening Dinner Gala last month -- on May 15, to be precise -- just six days before Dita showed up on the Cannes red carpet for the Cleopatra premiere in the very same dress!
Kate Bosworth and Blanca Suarez in Emilio Pucci
You can't go wrong with an LBD -- that's probably what both actresses thought when they closed in on this sizzling little outfit. Kate wore it to the Audi Golden Globe 2013 Kick Off Party in LA this January, while Spanish actress Blanca was spotted at the Fotogramas awards 2013 in Madrid this March.
Amy Adams and Daisy Lowe in Dolce & Gabbana
This prom-style floral caught the eye of both the American actress and the British model, who styled it very differently. Amy selected it for the premiere of On The Road at the 2012 AFI Fest in Hollywood last November, while Daisy donned it for the Elle Style Awards in London this February.
Freida Pinto and Lea Michele in Valentino
One's deep red, the other hot pink, but there's no mistaking this gorgeous satin creation. Freida was spotted in it at the 2012 Dubai International Film Festival in December, Lea at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in LA this January.
Nicki Minaj and Samia Ghadie in Herve Leger
Few designs have achieved iconic status like Herve Leger's bandage dresses, but both the female rapper and the British actress managed to reel in the identical one. Nicki carried hers off with attitude at the season premiere screening of American Idol in January, while Samia followed suit at the National Television Awards in London only a few days later.
Kate Beckinsale and Kat Dennings in Vivienne Westwood
Their names are similar and apparently their dress sense is too. Both actresses played up this sheen-tinged blue strapless in their own way, Kate at Porsche Design's 40th anniversary event in September 2012, and Kat at the Grammys in LA this February.
Jessica Biel and Poorna Jagannathan in Gucci
This ruffled black gown was first seen on Jessica at the Hitchcock premiere last November, but we're not sure if Poorna didn't outshine her in the same design at the Stardust Awards in January 2013.
