To celebrate the special bond between siblings on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, we invited readers to share special moments they've spent with their brothers/sister. Here are some of the responses we received. Share yours!

There is a Vietnamese proverb that goes 'Brothers and sisters are as close as hands and feet'.

We are 1 brother and 2 sisters, Garima, Gaurav and Mahima, my brother being in the middle.

From the beginning we did everything together and supported each other in every phase of life. Initially, when we were growing up, we had the same group of friends too.

Having a brother and sister is like having a playmate all the time. We never needed any outsider to play with.

My brother has always been a pillar of strength to both us sisters. He had never shown his weakness to anyone, even when he had two major operations.

There have been many incidents in life where my brother has always been there and protected me.

The one incident that comes to my mind when I think of him is how he used to be very protective right from the beginning. It was the time when we were studying in Barabanki, UP. I was in the senior section and my brother was still in junior school. We had the same school timings. In my section there was a boy who used to bully me and even after complaning to the teachers he wouldn't stop. My brother knew this and was waiting for the right time to attack. It was after school one day when all the students were rushing back to their homes and school yard was crowded. That boy started bullying me and seeing this my brother attacked him from behind and dissappeared in the crowd, leaving the boy guessing who attacked him.

When my younger sister was growing up he was there with her to guide her. It was the celebration of Rakhi that brought us together even when we moved out to different cities to work or study.

It's been 2 years now since I met him, after I moved to US. This year he is getting married and settleing into a new phase of his life. I wish him all the best for his new journey and hope we three will always be there for each other.
