People who have more sex make more money

August 17, 2013 13:41 IST

A roundup of recently published sex and relationship news

People who engaged in sexual activities four or more times in a week, earned more money than those who didn’t enjoy an active sex life, a new study has found.

The author of the research, Nick Drydakis, an economics lecturer at Angila Ruskin University in Cambridge, England, told CBS News that people need to love and be loved (sexually and non-sexually) by others, and in the absence of these elements, many people become susceptible to loneliness, social anxiety, and depression that could affect their working life.

The Institute for the Study of Labor, an economic research institution, in Germany, published the study in July.

How older men can reinvent the joys of sex revealed

August 17, 2013 13:41 IST

A sex and relationship expert has revealed that it is important for men to change their sex moves in the bed, as the old ones will not give women as much pleasure as they did before.

Joe Kort told the Huffington Post that the change could be especially difficult for older men to accept.

Kort said that men have been raised to think that the only way to be sexual is through intercourse, so when they can’t, their masculinity gets totally devastated.

Kort claimed that for men over 50, sex changes beyond the ability to maintain an erection, and since the erection is their masterpiece, men have a harder time wrapping their minds around different ways to explore their sexuality.

However, if older men are looking to truly improve their sex lives, it’s important to think of sex as more than just penetration and if they succeed in the process, they can usher in a new period of sensuality in a relationship, Kort said.

REVEALED: How people fall for extramarital affairs

August 17, 2013 13:41 IST

Are you sharing too much of your personal life and confessing your family-related problems to somebody other than your better half?

Well, you could be having one of those ‘emotional affairs’ that start out innocently as friendships, but quickly turn into extra martial affairs, the Huffington Post reported.

According to YourTango.com, the first thing one should look for, while determining if your friendship has crossed the line, is to see if you are sharing frustrations about your marriage or relationship.

The lifestyle website also asserts that if you are trying to create a unique intimacy with another person and cutting out your partner at home, then that could be a sign of an emotional affair.

Moreover, if you are having an emotional affair, you are watching to see how far you can take the sexy banter with that person, and you may be more emotionally involved with them at this point than with your spouse.

If you find yourself anxiously waiting or responding immediately to texts and phone calls from the concerned person, then you should probably be on high alert, as well.

Excess of Facebook selfies could ruin relationships

August 17, 2013 13:41 IST

A new study has revealed that sharing too many selfies on social networking sites like Facebook, could potentially be harmful to your closest relationships.

The UK research found that people who post photos too frequently on social networks, run the risk of alienating friends, family members and colleagues, leading to less supportive bonds, the New York Daily News reported.

Lead researcher Dr David Houghton said in a statement that selfies, or self-portraits, seem to be some of the most irksome images.

Houghton asserted that people, other than very close friends and relatives, don’t seem to relate well to those who constantly share photos of themselves.

The study found that people felt less supported by relationship partners, who shared more photos of friends and events than of the family.

The study also suggested that posting more photos of yourself posing with friends instead of your significant other could damage that relationship.

Men think about sex 34 times each day and women 18 times

Men think about sex 34 times each day and women 18 times

A new study has revealed that the thought of sex occurs to men at least 34 times in a day, as compared to their female counterparts, who think about it around 18 times a day.

The new research shows that men think about sex twice as much as women, the Daily Star reported.

The new figures are being associated with the success of E.L. James’s erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey.

For the research, students at the Ohio State University were asked to record every time they thought about sex, food and sleep each day.

It found that men do indeed think most about sex, but women have sex on their mind far more than what was previously believed.

The poll concluded that ladies think about sex on average 18.6 times a day, which works out at once every 51 minutes when allowing for eight hours’ sleep.

The study also revealed that men thought about sex 34.2 times a day, coming down to once every 28 minutes.

During the survey, psychologists recorded the behaviour of 283 college students, aged 18-25, over the course of a week using hand-held counters.

Canadian museum uses 'Orgasms Can Kill Pain' ad to promote sexual exhibit

August 17, 2013 13:41 IST

The Science World museum, in Vancouver, has made use of a racy new ad to call attention to their ‘Science Of Sexuality’ exhibit.

The saucy show is trying to portray sexuality in a positive light.

The eye-catching campaign, whose caption reads ‘Orgasms Can Kill Pain’, shows a woman’s cast-bound legs spread wide apart with a naked man lying between her thighs, the Huffington Post reported.

Jason Bosher, the museum rep, told the publication that his staff likes to put the word out there in ways people would remember.

The ad, from Rethink agency, also brings orgasm’s analgesic effect in the spotlight, claiming that the climax increases pain thresholds by more than 108 percent.

Gen X more committed to monogamy but 'Ok' with one-night stands

August 17, 2013 13:41 IST

A new research has revealed that although the current generation has become increasingly more open-minded about sex than they were two decades ago, they are less tolerant of infidelity.

The study conducted by Laura Watt, a sociology researcher at the University of Manchester, found that British people are now more accepting of sex before marriage, same-sex relationships and one-night stands than they were in the 1980s, the Independent reported.

However, it was found that just one person in 10 was supportive of partners who are unfaithful, suggesting that the concepts of monogamy and faithfulness are more deeply established than ever.

The researcher, who analysed data going back to 1990 from the National Survey of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles, discovered that the number of respondents aged between 18 and 30 who felt that casual sex was wrong fell dramatically from more than six in 10 to just 37 per cent in a decade.

It was found that acceptance of same-sex relationships rose to around 70 per cent from the past; while nearly nine in 10 people said it was wrong for a married person to have sex with someone other than their spouse.

Respondents considering it wrong for people to have more than one partner if they were living with someone rose by 4 per cent, while the number opposing the idea of multiple partners increased by 7 per cent.

Things men hate about women!

August 17, 2013 13:41 IST

An Aussie author, who along with his writer wife has sold more than 25 million copies of their books, including ‘Why men don’t listen’ and ‘Women can’t read maps’, has revealed the things that men can’t stand in women.

Speaking to News Corp Australia, Allan Pease revealed that the most irksome thing about women is that they don’t get to the point, but circle around it, News.com.au reported.

The Queensland-based communication author asserted that one of the worst habits in ladies is that they multi-track or speak continuously while talking or arguing, giving men no chance to speak.

Pease said that men hate it when women nag or use exaggerations to make a point.

He added that men also hate the fact that women don’t initiate sex enough or when they shop for hours.

Things women hate about men revealed!

August 17, 2013 13:41 IST

If some of you guys out there are still clueless as to why your girlfriend broke-up with you without any apparent reason, then you might want to read this one.

According to the Courier-Mail, women hate the fact that men don’t listen to their problems and are constantly trying to provide solutions, when all the ladies want to do is talk about the issue and release some stress.

Another thing that irks women in men is that they always try to dominate the TV remote and switch channels according to their preference.

A man might think that his gross jokes are super hit among his male pals, but they do not get him any points in a woman’s book, whereas sitting and listening to them, will.

Leaving the toilet seat-up is also not the best thing to do if you are living with a woman, additionally, asking for directions when you are lost won’t hurt your self-esteem.
