Bachelorette parties in India are becoming trendy among the well-off as well as the middle class.
Kinky decor, playboy costumes, penis-shaped cakes and even male strippers -- women don't hesitate to splurge while saying goodbye to their singlehood. "It would be any guy's dream to crash that party. A room full of stunning-looking women, kinky stuff all around.
"We are planning to throw a spinster party for Megha! And since we do not have an affordable venue in Bombay, we'll head to Manori. Plan is to meet up on Saturday 11th Dec at 4 pm at Marve ferry. Budget for stay, cake, kinky decor, games, food and drinks will be approximately 1500-2000 rupees per head."
That was the e-mail invitation Megha's friends sent around for her bachelorette party. They didn't have a big budget, but that wasn't going to stop them having some girly fun.
Wedding choreographer Anisha Thadani agrees. She says money doesn't hold people back from celebrating, it just decides the scale of the party.

"You could just have a wild party night in Bombay. But more and more people are getting out of town to destinations like Goa or Rajasthan or even Bangkok and Hong Kong," says Anisha.
Megha's close group of friends did the same by getting away from town to a tiny coastal village called Manori. Her friend Shikha says it took her nearly two days to organise the party after having fixed the date and venue.
"It wasn't too much effort but the kinky stuff is difficult to find. There are independent sellers who sell merchandise from home. I got in touch with one of them and placed an order of naughty games like aiming rings at an erect toy penis, picked it up the next day, and headed to the party," Shikha says.
The preparations went on without Megha's knowledge and she was pleasantly surprised by what her girlfriends had gifted her: "It's nice that a party, a kinky one, is planned specially for you. And you never know what's coming! After my awesome party, I think bachelorette parties should be a tradition. Every one getting married should have a full-on, mad, wild party before the wedding."
She adds that the atmosphere of the party was sizzling hot, with all the ladies dressed to kill. "It would be any guy's dream to crash that party. A roomfull of stunning looking women, kinky stuff all around, lots of drinks, great music and dancing," Megha says.
What if you don't have the time to organise a party with the wedding on your mind? Well, you could hire professionals to do it! Just give them your wish-list and that will be their command. But don't forget the wads of cash that you'll be expected to bust out.
Anisha says some women are ready to spend between 1.5 and 3 lakh on their special night. "You can hire limousines -- it's become more of a fashion and status statement."
"You can hire male strippers if you know where to look. They don't work for everyone -- they do it only through reference," she says, adding that a stripper alone can cost up to 15,000 rupees for a couple of hours a night."
A traditional, ritualistic Indian wedding preceded by a wild night of girly partying seems like a mismatch, but it's becoming more of a norm.
"People fix the wedding dates, the sangeet and then the bachelorette party," Anisha says. "It doesn't matter what your background is. Middle class or affluent, you're allowed that night of fun."
