We invited readers to share stories of how they met their spouses and interesting anecdotes about their wedding day. Here's Garima Chandra's account of meeting her husband:
We met while working in Delhi in 2006.We were in the same company and on the same project.
Initially, we never used to talk or interact with each other. But then one day I left for home upon learning that my grandmother had passed away and didn't return to work for 15 days.
After I came, back things were not the same.We exchanged phone numbers and started talking. He was always the first person to help me with any official work.
While on the phone one day he proposed and said that he wanted to marry me. I thought that he was joking and told him to talk to me in the morning at the office.
Upon reaching the office the next day, I found him waiting for me.He asked for my answer and I told him that we should wait and not rush.
At the start of 2007, he left for a new job in the US and I continued working in India. During that period, we used to talk on the phone and I realised my true feelings towards him.
Meanwhile, my parents were searching for a suitable match for me here in India. I mustered up my courage and told them about him.
Intially, they were not agreeable as they had never seen or met him. But after pursuing them for a long time, they gave in and decided to take things forward. Without their meeting the groom, our marriage was fixed and finalised for January 2008!
We have completed three years of togetherness and we are very blessed to have each other as a partner.
