It has been revealed that couples who sleep less than an inch apart are most likely to be happier than those who sleep 30 inches apart or more.
A recent survey has revealed that couples who sleep closer to each other tend to be happier than those who sleep apart.
The survey that was published at the Edinburgh International Science Festival reveals that couples who make physical contact in the night are happier than those who don't.
According to a study of 1100 people, it was seen that couples who slept with less than an inch apart were more likely to be happier together than those who slept 30 inches apart or more.
The difference is notable.
Of those who spent the night in physical contact, 94 per cent couples confessed to be happy with their relationships as against only 68 per cent of those who didn't.
Here are some of the most interesting findings about the survey:
Only 55 per cent of the couples who slept facing each other (as seen above) but did not maintain physical contact said they were happy with their relationship.

The happiness levels were even lower with couples who slept with their backs to each other but did not maintain contact with only 74 per cent couples saying they were satisfied with their relationship.

The research also revealed that people who sleep flat on their backs tended to be confident and sensation-seeking.
While those who slept with their knees drawn up, in a 'semi-foetal' position, were most likely to be flexible and maintain a moderate stance on issues.
It was also revealed that those who lie face down could tend to be rigid in their outlook.
An article that appeared in The Sun a few years ago had also revealed what several sleeping positions meant.
The one pictured here -- where one on their back and the other is cradled in the crook of their arm cuddled up to them -- revealed that the partner on their back provided emotional strength and was happy offering emotional support to the other partner who was more needy.
How do you sleep? And how happy are you?
