Being the youngest son of highly educated and well placed parents there was little parental pressure in life.
My only interest was to play cricket. I was a good cricketer in my college days.
I was a happy-go-lucky guy who did not have any aim in his life.
One fine day in the final year of degree class, one new lady joined our class.
She was so different from others -- very quiet, reserved and kept to herself!
She had nothing special in terms of her looks or anything, but she had a special smile which was very rare.
I don't know why she caught my fancy and somehow I got attracted towards her.
You can call it destiny that few incidents happened and we became close friends in a few months time.
A few more months later, I expressed my feelings to her but to my shock I saw tears flowing from her eyes.
I think it was the hardest moment of my life.
She requested me to keep this topic aside and just be her friend.
Even though I was initially angry and upset, I eventually agreed to be her friend.
After that we continued our relationship till our final exams.
During this time she had become very emotional.
She would often hold my hand and sit quietly with tears in her eyes.
But she never told me the reason.
I was confused but did not push her for any sort of explanation.

'I don't know what sort of relationship I shared with her'
Once our final exams were over she went back to her city promising to come back at the time of results and said that we would stay in touch.
Unfortunately she never returned to our college nor did she contact me thereafter.
I was totally shattered and aghast but as life goes on I moved on in life and went to Australia to do MBA.
A few months later, I came to know her past through a college friend.
She was a married lady and had issues with her husband.
She had moved to her parents' house and wanted to complete her degree.
She'd come to our city as nobody regognised her here.
After completing her degree when she went back home her marital issues were resolved and she went to Mumbai along with her husband.
Till date I don't know what sort of relationship I shared with her and wonder why she became so close to me and we shared some great moments together.
Maybe as my mother explained to me she was looking for a companion to share her feelings as she was going through tough times in life.
And she found me as a decent and trustworthy guy.
Maybe my mother is right...but I still cherish those moments and always wish her good luck and happiness in life.
