In the first of a weeklong series, we bring you a list of products that won out in the skincare category at the Vogue Beauty Awards 2012.
Fashion bible Vogue held its annual Beauty Awards in Mumbai earlier this month, on August 1.
Attended by the who's who of the Indian fashion and film fraternity, the event not only honoured individuals, but products aimed at skin and hair health.
Over 1,100 products were rigorously scrutinised and personally tested by an expert panel of judges, and in the following pages, we bring you the eight skincare potions that managed to shine -- so you may consider stocking up on them!
Best day moisturiser
There was a tie in this very first category, between Chanel Hydra Beauty Gel Creme and Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief.
Both products are rather heavy on the wallet, but at approximately Rs 2,850 for 50 ml, Clinique is at half the price of the extravagant Chanel product, which costs approximately Rs 4,800 for the same quantity.
As far as night moisturisers go, Estee Lauder Time Zone Night Anti-Line/Wrinkle Creme is the winner hands down -- but you may have a hard time falling asleep after learning that it costs about Rs 4,950 for 50 ml!
In the skin serum division, Estee Lauder took the title once again with their Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex, which is priced in the region of Rs 5,800 for 50 ml.
For dark circles, puffiness and under-eye wrinkles, Dermalogica AGE Smart Multivitamin Power Firm emerged the best-working product. And at an eye-watering cost of approximately Rs 4,100 for a mere 15 ml, it better!
Most women struggle with cellulite. To beat these unsightly, dimpled deposits of fat, Vogue advocated Shiseido Body Creator Aromatic Sculpting Concentrate.
The damages: About Rs 4,000 for 200 ml.
To even out skin tone (get rid of age spots, even out pores, blemishes and pigmentation), the award went to Lancome's Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector, which costs somewhere near a staggering Rs 7,800 for 50 ml.
For delicate skin that's prone to break-outs and reactions to products, Vogue nominated the La Roche-Posay Toleriane range as the best.
Prices vary from one Toleriane product to another -- the Toleriane Dermo Cleanser is Rs 1,300 for 200ml; the Toleriane Purifying Foaming Cream is Rs 1,330 for 125ml; the Toleriane Ultra Intense Soothing Care is Rs 2,000 for 40ml; and the Toleriane Soothing Protective Skincare range is Rs 1,200 to 1,500, depending upon skin type (all prices are approximate).
And finally, when it comes to facial cleansers, L'Oreal Paris Hydrafresh Instant Freshness Foaming Gel, tagged at a very reasonable Rs 300 for 100 ml, took home the title.
