What: Admissions have opened up for the Dhurbhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology. The programmes on offer are BTech in Information and Communication Technology, an MTech in Information and Communication Technology, an MSc in Information Technology, an MSc in Information Technology, and an MDes in Communication Design. There are also doctorate courses that can be applied for, which include a Doctorate of Philosophy.
Selection process: Short listed candidates will be called for conselling at DA-IICT and selection for admission will be based on the All India Rank of AIEEE 2011. There are also some seats that will be offered through a separate channel called Direct Admission of Foreign and NRI Students. This is for all NRIs, foreign nationals, and persons of Indian origin living abroad.
The DA-IICT is a UGC recognised statutory university, and a major educational and research institution of Reliance ADAG. Applications are invited for the programmes starting July 2011.
Who can apply: Candidates must be a pass with 50% marks for ghe general category and 40% for the SC and ST category in Class 12 or its equivalent, with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science, and Biology. They must be on or after 01 October 1986, and have appeared for the AIEEE 2011 exams conducted by the CBSE board on 01 May 2011. A minimum 60% in the qualifying AIEEE examination is required, and 55% for the MDes course.
How to apply: The DA-IICT application form is available on the website http://www.daiict.ac.in and can be obtained through an online transaction of Rs 1000 through credit card. It is also avalaible at select Axis Bank brances by paying Rs 1000. It is also available through the institution by sending a demand draft of Rs 1050 in favour of DA-IICT and payable at Ahmedabad.
Scholarships that are equivalent to fill tuition fees are available to students who have been ranked above number 5000 in the AIEEE All India Rank. There are also five merit-cum-means scholarships that are being offered through a means test. Candidates who are admitted to MTech are eligible to get a Teaching Assistantship of Rs 7500 per month. Candidates admitted to the PhD programme are eligible for a stipend of Rs 25000 per month.
Important dates: Forms are available between 21 March 2011 and 30 April 2011. The last date for submitting the application form is 06 May 2011.
