If you don't want to splurge on expensive beauty products, these kitchen remedies will do just fine!
We love experimenting, because we love pleasant surprises. That's primarily why we scout the market for a wide variety of products; market experts may regard us as 'brand switchers', but this is how we popularise different brands.
And this especially holds true during the purchase of cosmetics and beauty products. There are a lot of options available and we're often unfaithful to one brand while giving 'equal chances' to every newcomer. Just think about the degree of our sacrifice -- we don't hesitate to put our skin health at risk.
So if we are so interested in these products and exploring the market, why not explore the kitchen for a change? It's 'the' place for the best natural face packs!
In the following pages, we bring you tips to formulate your very own facial products.

These need to be prepared differently to suit different skin conditions.
For normal skin
Take two spoonfuls of rosewater and one spoonful of honey and add them to two egg yolks. You may preserve this mixture for repeated use. It gives good results if used once weekly and benefits the skin mostly in the winter months, by keeping it soft and supple.

Fruit-based face packs

When you visit a beauty salon, experts may ask you about your choice of fruit facial and the very name attracts you to pay a handsome price for this service. But you can avail of it in your 'home-salon' itself! These are the various fruity combos:
Orange-yoghurt mask
Full cream yoghurt (three tablespoons) needs to be mixed with the same quantity of orange juice. The lactic acid in yoghurt acts as a peeling and a whitening agent. Orange juice performs the role of a skin toner and it tightens pores.

Form a carrot paste by blending a peeled-off carrot of medium size in a mixer. Add two teaspoons of honey to it, one teaspoon of rough semolina and if you like, one drop of lavender essential oil. Apply the mixture instantly. Allow 15 minutes to pass. Then begin to scrub with circular movements. It will not only exfoliate your skin, but will also serve as a conditioner.
The traditional sandalwood face pack

Sandalwood paste remains the most popular face mask. Half a teaspoonful is enough to treat facial skin. Add gram flour (besan) or fuller's earth to this paste. Next, add a few milk drops to it. You'll see results if you apply this pack twice weekly. You may observe different results in different seasons. In winter, your skin may become dry and for that you may need to add some cream, milk or olive oil to bestow moisturising qualities to your usual sandalwood face pack. Similarly, you can control excessive oiliness in summer by adding some lemon juice to this paste.
Your face is definitely not an object of experimentation. Try out these tested home remedies handed down through the generations and you'll learn to pamper your skin the natural, healthy way.
