A study carried out among 2,000 women has found they don't think it's appropriate to wear a bikini past the age of 47, minis past 35 and leggings past 45!
Helen Mirren, 65 and Jerry Hall, 54, who have never shied away from showing off their enviable figure in a number of bikinis, may not agree with a new poll that has revealed that women don't think it is acceptable to wear bikinis on the beach once they reach 47.
The study, carried out among 2,000 women, found most wouldn't be comfortable wearing a two-piece on holiday once they approach their half-century -- and frown upon others who do, reports the Daily Mail.
But the survey also revealed that women believe -- perhaps a little unfairly -- that miniskirts are a 'no-no' on anyone aged 35 or more and that high heels should not be worn by anyone over 51.
The study, commissioned by Diet Chef, also found 44 per cent of women regularly worry they are too old to wear certain items of clothing.
But one in two also believe that provided a woman is slim, healthy and attractive into her fifties and sixties, she can "get away with anything".
In the following pages, we bring you the age women believe you should stop doing various things as per the survey!

The miniskirt

If you're 35, you're too old to be wearing a miniskirt -- but apparently supermodel Elle MacPherson, 48, doesn't live by those rules!
The boob tube

According to the women surveyed, the boob tube has an even shorter expiry date than the mini -- 33 and no more! Wonder what singer Mariah Carey, who's 41, will have to say about that?
Stilettos

Former supermodel Iman, 55, continues to parade her fabulous legs in high heels, although the survey found that the age to hang up your stilettos is 51.
Belly button piercing

The deadline set for a belly button piercing was 35, but at 45, Janet Jackson couldn't care less!
Knee-high boots

Women don't believe they can carry off knee-high boots after the age of 47. Fifty two-year-old Queen of Pop Madonna, however, has never lived by the rules!
Trainers

At 37, Eva Mendes is endorsing trainers by Reebok, but another seven years and her wearing them will be frowned upon, according to the poll. No trainers after 44!
Leather trousers

Women above 34 are too self-conscious to wear leather pants and frown on those who do -- but fifty-year-old actress Tilda Swinton looks fabulous in them!
Leggings

Ladies, leggings that show off your gams are okay up until 45, after which it's time to wave goodbye. But if at 46 you look like Courteney Cox, you can continue to rock them!
UGG boots

We were a little surprised that the fairer sex seem to think these clumsy sheepskin boots can be carried off till the age of 45. They even look a little nutty on beautiful blonde Kate Hudson -- and she's only 32!
The swimsuit

Of course, to swim you have to don swimwear, but women polled believe that the latest you can wear even a one-piece swimsuit at is 61. At 65, Cher is still sizzling in it though!
The tight vest

She loves showing off her taut torso in tight vests, so we have no doubt that Jennifer Lopez will wear them well beyond 44. She's safe for another two years!
The see-through chiffon blouse

No see-through chiffon after 40, says the survey. But Cate Blanchett shines in an embroidered one at 42!
Long hair

This one certainly wouldn't go down well with Indian women. The age to stop flaunting long hair is 53, but it doesn't look like Claudia Schiffer, 40, is ever going to cut her gorgeous trademark golden locks!
The ponytail

And finally, the poll says the age to stop tying your hair in a pony is 51. But it's Nicole Kidman's favourite hairstyle, even though she's approaching her 50s!
