What were they thinking? The WORST of Bridal Fashion Week!
Fashion designers too get it wrong sometimes! Our pick of the not-so-happening outfits from the India Bridal Fashion Week
The recently-concluded Bridal Fashion Week, held in Mumbai, witnessed some really innovative ideas manifest on the ramp.
Which is not to say that it was without its share of missteps and fashion fails (Yeah, those happen ON the ramp as well).
Here then, is a look at some of the designs that made little to no sense and stuck out as sore thumbs.
Glitter good
This risque Gaurav Gupta creation had us wondering exactly what occasion in a wedding or in its run-up does this dress fit in.

While anyone will clearly abstain from wearing this exceedingly bizarre outfit for any occasion, the colour, lace-work, puffed sleeves and the satin are far from fit for a bride.
Mostly because, you know, it's an Indian wedding, not a Star Wars convention.

Floral motifs randomly placed on an otherwise soothing colour palette and fabric does not an ideal bridal outfit make.
The colourful motifs belong more on bed linen than on this dress.

This entire look, modelled by the beautiful Huma Qureshi, screams over-the-top.
The beautiful colours on this outfit are lost in the sheer volume of the lehenga and the heavy jewellery.

Yet another Pallavi Jaikishan outfit makes it to this list.
This sari perfectly illustrates how a burst of colours and sparkles aren't necessarily the only things to make a bridal outfit stand out.
That blouse with a lace detail is stuff sartorial nightmares are made of.

Is that a longer version of a tutu we have here?
Has the traditional sangeet ceremony given way to ballad recitals as part of pre-wedding celebrations? We'll never know unless we see this on a real-life bride.

We'll wait till it makes up its mind if it wants to be a lovely embroidered sari with a striking blouse or a fuss-free salwar kameez.

The beautiful and exceedingly innovative use of two very different colours and textures along with some traditional jewellery comes undone with this ill-fitted top.
Some basic rules of bridal wear are best left alone.

This ill-advised headgear takes away so much from this potentially outstanding red lehenga.

Peplums are great.
Peplums will look great if incorporated in bridal wear. Just try not to use them upside down because they look like pet dogs' round braces.
