Tulisa credits snake venom serum for youthful look

Tulisa Contostavlos

N-Dubz singer Tulisa Contostavlos has taken to Twitter to praise a wrinkle-killing remedy based on snake venom, calling it 'amazing'.

The 24-year-old singer tweeted her love for Skin Chemist's Wrinkle Killer Snake Serum, a 135-pound potion that includes syn-ake -- a neuro-peptide that mimics the effect of the Asian temple viper's venom, the Daily Mail reported.

Syn-ake, which has also been called 'Botox in a bottle,' temporarily freezes wrinkles -- preventing them from getting any deeper.

In addition to syn-ake, it also contains oxygen, believed to have a smoothing and plumping effect on the skin.

Tulisa, who is dating footballer Danny Simpson, also uses the brand's fat busting 'Sculpt and Tone' body cream.

And she is not the only A-lister to use snake venom in a bid to stay youthful, Dolce and Gabbana designer, Stefano Gabbana, and TOWIE star Amy Childs are both reported to use the wrinkle buster cream.

Lilo returns borrowed designer dress in tatters

Last updated on: February 23, 2013 18:15 IST

Lindsay Lohan has been accused of ruining the borrowed designer gown, which she wore in the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAr) gala earlier this month, as she has allegedly chopped off the bottom half of the dress.

The 26-year-old actress was photographed wearing a beaded, floor-length Theia outfit at the glitzy New York bash, but when it was returned to the fashion house, the 1,750-dollar dress was in tatters, Contactmusic reported.

Pictures obtained by UsMagazine.com show the gown with a roughly cut high-low hem.

A source told the publication that Lohan said that the dress had rip at a club after the fundraiser so her stylist friend went to the club bouncer and requested some scissors to repair the torn part of the dress.

Fat capsules in beauty products 'can't be trusted'

Buyers of beauty products should not trust the claims that liposomes - small fat capsules often added to beauty products - can improve skin's appearance, says an expert.

According to the beauty industry liposomes are capable of transporting active ingredients deep into the skin and release the active ingredients so that they can alter the skin's structure by rejuvenating and smoothing the skin.

But a new research from University of Southern Denmark has shown that liposomes are not capable of transporting themselves deep into the skin, and thus they are not capable of transporting active ingredients deep into the skin.

"We have shown that liposomes are destroyed before they enter the skin or very soon after. When a liposome is destroyed, it spills its cargo of active ingredients. Liposomes are therefore not efficient carriers for transdermal delivery", said professor Luis Bagatolli from Membrane Biophysics and Biophotonics Group/MEMPHYS Center for Biomembrane Physics, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark.

The researchers used the technique RICS (Raster Imaging Correlation Spectroscopy) to investigate how liposomes labeled with two fluorescent colors move once they are applied to the skin.

"Concerted movement of the two colours should provide evidence that the liposomes are intact when they reach their destination under the skin. We did not observe concerted movement after applying the liposomes to the skin," said Bagatolli.

"The human skin is designed to prevent external components to enter the human body. It is natural, that it also prevents liposomes to enter," he added.

New lingerie makes saggy breasts perfectly pert without any padding

Last updated on: February 23, 2013 18:15 IST

Marks And Spencer's lingerie designers have invented a brand new bra that they claim provides the wearer with perky cleavage while being completely free of padding.

The Youthful Lift bra is aiming to deliver a "sprightly silhouette" with the help of uplifting support, a new moulding technique, special fabric and a unique hidden sling, the Daily Mail reported.

Soozie Jenkinson, Head of Lingerie Design at M and S said that for over a decade, women relied on T-shirt or push-up bra to provide an uplifted silhouette, but not all women want padded bras, so the company designed Youthful Lift that delivers a sprightly silhouette without relying on traditional padding.

The bra features a feminine lace print design and keyhole detailing and includes a smoothing back wing to give a flattering shape and appearance under clothes.

Paschal Little, Head of Lingerie Innovation at M and S, said that technical improvements in innovative bra construction allowed them to develop non padded, moulded bras, which give same shape and support as padded ones.

He added that they have used these techniques in the development of the Youthful Lift bra and also included a hidden sling to deliver additional support and shape enhancement.

How Beyonce keeps pregnancy weight at bay

Beyonce

Beyonce's fitness trainer has revealed that the singer, who gave birth to her daughter Blue Ivy last January, eats one vegan meal a day to keep off her pregnancy weight.

The R 'n' B singer, who admitted to Oprah in an interview, last week, that she had gained 57lbs while she was pregnant, avoids eating animal products to maintain her fit, post-baby body, the Daily Mail reported.

Her trainer, Marco Borges, told Life and Style that he recommended veganism to the 31-year-old hip hop artist as the diet "typically gets people to eat more greens than they normally would."

According to Us magazine, even during her pregnancy she and husband Jay-Z both stuck to a "partially-vegan" diet to stay healthy and energetic together.

And since giving birth, Beyonce has continued to snack on vegan foods like edamame, green apples and cucumbers sprinkled with vinegar, cayenne pepper and lemon.

Beyonce's trainer also said that her diet plan also includes a protein shake for lunch.

Her trainer added that it wasn't just the modified diet intense training and dance routines also played a large part.

Kim Kardashian has for the first time showed off her body since her pregnancy, as she flaunted her curves in a bikini for a new photo shoot.

Wearing a white two-piece, a sarong and little makeup, the reality star and her barely there bump are on display in the newest issue of DuJour magazine, the New York Post reported.

She's also in the pool for a few shots with her hair glistening with water.

Photographer Bruce Weber shot Kardashian for the spread just five days after Kanye West announced his girlfriend's pregnancy in January.

On her pregnancy, Kardashian told the magazine that she's having an easy time with no morning sickness, cravings or fatigue.

However, she does have one guilty pleasure.

"Lately I've been watching shows like I'm Pregnant and Addicted to [Crystal] Meth. It definitely makes me feel better if I'm wanting one sip of Diet Coke or, you know, too much sugar. I'm like, this woman is on meth," she said.
