Ace photographer Atul Kasbekar, who shoots the annual Kingfisher calendar, talks about three hot models -- Nicole Faria, Rikee Chatterjee and Katheleno Kenze -- who he thinks can create ripples in India and abroad this year.
Nicole Faria
Impressions…
I think Nicole Faria is set for big time. I think her time has come. She has been around for three to four years now and she could do quite well this year. She has already acted in a movie (Yaariyan, which released this January).
After a long time I have seen somebody who works the camera really well.
Her sex appeal lies in the fact that she is pretty aggressive in front of the camera. She has loads of experience and she knows what to do. She will work it out for her own angles and perspectives.
She is quite fabulous from any angle you shoot her. She manages to work that quite well.
Nicole Faria is in the Malaika-Bipasha kind of mould.

Advice…
Her debut movie just released in January and we expect her to see in more movies. She will surely make a mark for herself in the film industry. For her a career awaits in the movies.

Rikee Chatterjee
Impressions…
Rikee Chatterjee is another girl who I think will do quite well. If you have to make a movie on someone like Maharani Gayatri Devi, and if you would want someone to play her younger part, then Rikee has that kind of regal, elegant face. Not that she has any interest in movies but she has that kind of face.
She exhibits a very statuesque charm: tall, elegant, never out of place. She is fairly experienced. She has come into her own now and now and is getting the spotlight she deserves.
She has ridiculously incredible legs.

Advice…
She has no interest in movies, which is fine. She is an extremely popular and heavily booked model for shows. She is not very ambitious and particularly happy to do the work that comes her way. She is quite sorted.
For her it is, eventually, a question of wanting or not wanting to do something. With the kind of poise she has, she could quite easily be a hit at shows abroad.
I think she needs a little bit of prodding and pushing from whoever is pitching her for her to go into the next space.

Katheleno Kenze
Impressions…
I think someone like Leno can definitely do well abroad. People from the northeast, unfortunately, are not commercially viable in advertising in mainstream India. But she is stunning.
Leno is from Nagaland. You need a face in India, unfortunately, that needs to be viable in the north, the south, the east and the west. My opinion is that Leno could be the face of Garnier but it is highly unlikely that she would be chosen by a mainstream brand.
Look at someone like FC Mary Kom; it is not that you are seeing her in a dozen adverts. She has won a world championship; she has won a boxing gold; what more can you do? After all these achievements, it is not as if you are seeing her as a face of lot of advertisements. But that is the plain reality.
She has a very unique kind of ease about her, like a languid kind of beauty. Her looks are like a vulnerable kind of beautiful women and you need to protect her for big battles.

Leno should shoot a superb portfolio, pack her bags and go abroad.
Models start very early abroad at 16 or 17 and by 20 they are supermodels. I think Leno has some way to go before she becomes one.
I think, essentially, her look is lot more viable, internationally. Once she gets a good portfolio I would like her to go abroad where she would get lot more work.
