Poll: Has the new Bhutani Queen's bridal upstaged Kate, Charlene?
King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck married his childhood sweetheart Jetsun Pema at the Punakha Dzong in Punakha, Bhutan, today -- and the new queen looked ravishing! Do you think her traditional bridal was prettier than Kate and Charlene's?

When she married her Prince Charming (or King, if you will!), the new Queen of Bhutan Jetsun Pema could have opted for a high-end designer from anywhere across the world to work on her trousseau.
But keeping things traditional, she opted instead for an elaborate 'kira', the national dress of Bhutanese women.
The build-up to D-day saw several prominent weavers from across the country -- some of whom have been creating garments for the royal household over generations -- work furiously at providing their new royal with nothing but the best.
Woven from raw silk, one kira can take months to complete and the one Queen Jetsun selected certainly had her looking like a vision today as she took her place beside King Jigme.

For her nuptials in July, the beautiful South African-born Charlene chose a striking boat neck gown by Giorgio Armani from the Prive line.
It is believed that the couturier's team worked for over 2,500 hours to create Charlene's dream dress, made of more than 140 yards of different silks and embellished with 40,000 Swarovski crystals and 20,000 mother of pearl beads, complete with six-yard-long train.
Looks like all the effort paid off, though -- it showed off her statuesque frame to perfection!

And of course, who can forget the most-hyped wedding gown of the year!
Kept top secret till the nth hour, Kate Middleton's Alexander McQueen dress, designed by Sarah Burton, was a beautiful affair with lace sleeves and trim that moved into a modest 'V'-neck.
French Chantilly lace and English Cluny lace adorned the bodice, skirt and underskirt and the gown was trimmed with hand-embroidered flowers.
It was complemented by a silk tulle veil, train of two metres and crowned with a Cartier 'halo' tiara, which the Queen lent her granddaughter-in-law for the occasion.
