The model management firm INEGA has recently launched a calendar featuring their models. What sets it apart from the others is that each page of the calendar highlights a cause.
On the onset of this new year, one of India's leading model management firm INEGA- has recently launched the INEGA Calendar 2012
The calendar has been shot in black-and-white and picks 12 social causes that it chooses to highlight in its pages.
Shot by photographer Prasad Naik, the calendar also comes with a supplementary book that details the causes it highlights, narrates inspirational stories and also lists out the prominent NGOs that work in the area.
The calendar itself is a beginning of a venture -- write to life -- wherein the proceeds from the calendar's sale will be donated to 'Give India' that will facilitate the funding to the causes that we have highlighted.
Here's a look at the calendar.
January highlights the issue of human trafficking. Said to be the fastest growing criminal industry in the world, the human trafficking industry comes second only to drug trafficking as the most profitable illegal industry in the world. The Human Trafficking Awareness Day falls on January 11.
In the February page, a model tries to protect herself from the smoke rising around her. February 4 is World Cancer Day. According to one report 7.6 million people die from cancer each year.
March celebrates the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination that falls on the 21st of the month.
Earth Day falls on April 22. The diminishing clothing on the four models in April highlights the issue of global warming and the rising temperatures in the world, or at least that is what we suppose!
Homophobia or the negative feelings and attitudes towards homosexuality is one of the most serious issues in the world today. It is also most relevant in the Indian context since the courts decriminalised homosexuality in India. May 17 is the International Day against Homophobia -- a cause that is highlighted in the month of May.
The June page of the calendar highlights the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Day. The day is observed on June 26 to commemorate Lin Zexu's dismantling of the opium trade before the First Opium War in China.
The world saw the birth of its 7 billionth baby earlier this year. The July page of the calendar highlights the issue of rising population. July 11 is World Population Day.
We aren't quite sure how the August page highlights the Anti Corruption Day that the calendar says falls on August 15, but apparently it does.
A take-off on Benetton's latest advertisement that showed various world leaders french kissing each other, the September page of the calendar takes up the most favourite cause amongst beauty queens -- World Peace! September 21 is World Peace Day.
Models dressed in animal print body suits on the October page of the calendar highlight the issue of animal rights. October 4 is World Animal Day.
Celebrating the innocence of the child on the November page are these models dressed as children. World Children's Day falls on November 20.
The calendar wraps up with this stylish photograph on the December pages that is said to highlight the issue of human rights. December 10 is Human Rights Day.
