The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York held its annual soiree, the Costume Institute Gala 2013, on May 6. Here are a few pics of famous faces in attendance -- who do you think scored bigtime in the style stakes and who tanked? Vote and let us know!
It's one of the biggest fashion dos in the world, one where celebrities go all-out on the red carpet to make an impression.
And considering the theme of this year's New York Met Museum's Costume Institute Gala was 'PUNK: Chaos to Couture', which intended to examine punk subculture's impact on high fashion, there were certainly some really edgy ensembles on display!
A-listers from Jennifer Lopez to Miranda Kerr and Taylor Swift were in attendance, all decked to the nines. But of course, not everyone was a hit on the red carpet -- take a look and let us know what YOU think of these styles by using the poll at the bottom of each page!
Anne Hathaway
The Les Miserables star stunned everyone with her risque vintage Valentino gown and new platinum blonde hairdo. That's certainly taking the punk theme seriously, what say?
Material Girl Madge decided to show off her preternaturally preserved bod in a Givenchy plaid coat and not much else -- fishnets, accessories and a dramatic wig finished off her look.
Also in Givenchy was the bootylicious Bey, but we fear the gown was a bit of an overkill, particularly with those matching thigh-high boots.
The yummy mummy and supermodel is back in shape after her second child, and put her fabulous pins on display in a Anthony Vaccarello mini featuring grommet detailing.
Unfortunately for the heavily pregnant star, this was another of her spectacular fashion fails. The busy floral Givenchy gown did her no favours and looked like it had swallowed up her hands, given the matching gloves.
The British model-actress stood out in style at the gala, opting for a bold silk Gucci gown that featured a sheer bodice.
She has a reputation as a fashionista, but Sarah bungled it bigtime last night with her Philip Treacy headpiece, Giles Deacon gown and plaid Christian Louboutin boots. The theme was punk, dear, not parakeet!
The Aussie supermodel put her fab abs on show in this cut-away Michael Kors creation.
Kate's hairdo, jewellery and Alberta Ferretti dress all exuded a punky vibe, but curiously, there was something very sophisticated and elegant about the overall look too.
JLo unleashed her inner wildcat on the red carpet with this backless animal print ensemble from Michael Kors.
Surprisingly, the blonde bombshell played it rather safe in this tame green design from Diane Von Furstenberg. Classy, but hardly punky or memorable!
She's known for taking fashion risks, so we were surprised to see Gwynny all sheathed up in hot pink from Valentino Haute Couture.
On the other hand, the usually demure Taylor decided to up the ante with this J Mendel gown sporting sheer panels all the way down the sides.
The actress looked quite the bombshell in this Louis Vuitton feathered creation that was slit down to the navel, revealing plenty of front and side cleavage.
Striking a pose in a Burberry number featuring gold spiked detailing, British model Cara looked every inch the catwalk queen.
She's known for her eccentric style and we thought the punk theme would be right up her alley, but rapper Nicki took the glam route instead, attending the Met Gala in a royal blue Tommy Hilfiger gown.
The porcelain-skinned actress was a vision in this white lace creation from Givenchy Haute Couture.
The Czech stunner dominated the red carpet and punk theme in a multi-print Mary Katrantzou mini.
This cut-away Prabal Gurung ensemble served to highlight the Harry Potter star's figure in a most flattering manner.
Haute couture or glorified bedsheet? We're having a hard time deciding when it comes to this Stella McCartney outfit Cameron stepped out in -- what do you think?
The Victoria's Secret beauty made for a pretty picture in this Louis Vuitton floral with silver accents.
There's no doubt that her hairdo is as punky as they come, and Miley's Marc Jacobs mesh dress was also quite the attention stealer.
The Aussie supermodel opted for a leather-lashed Diane von Furstenberg number that complemented her curves.
Considering she was voted Best-dressed Woman in the World last week, you'd think that Kristen would be more careful with what she wore to the Met Gala. No such luck -- her boxy maroon Stella McCartney jumpsuit was nothing short of a disaster.
The quirky popster opted for a heavily embellished Dolce & Gabbana midi gown, but the truly unusual touch was the crown she wore on her head!
The lovely lady turned quite a few heads in this leather gown from Theyskens' Theory.
Standing tall in an ethereal halterneck from the Calvin Klein Collection, Katie was quite a hit on the red carpet.
The British actress was quite the Burberry babe in this white number and heavyduty studded leather jacket.
Another international celeb who's fallen under the spell of Falguni and Shane Peacock! The TV personality wore this silver-on-nude gown from the desi duo's collection.
And finally we come to the Silver Linings Playbook actress, who wore a rich Dior Haute Couture dress, complete with a little netted veil.
