The show kicked off with images of singer David Bowie flashing on the Olympic Stadium's giant screens, his music reverberating all around and enthralling the 70,000-strong audience.
This was followed by stunning billboard images of the nine British supermodels wheeled in on trucks; seen here is the one bearing the likeness of Naomi Campbell.
The billboards were then torn down, to reveal the models themselves standing behind their likenesses.
The catwalk queens then took to a Union Jack-shaped catwalk, as a troop of soldiers in black followed to the centre and fell into a formation that revealed the iconic Alexander McQueen skull shape, in tribute to the late British designer.
Kate Moss dazzled in a gold sequinned gown from McQueen.
Here we see Naomi Campbell dominate the ramp as she confidently makes her way down to the centre.
Like Kate, the sultry siren was also kitted out in a dazzling gold ensemble by Alexander McQueen, complete with train.
Karen Elson dazzled for popular British brand Burberry, in a red carpet number slit to the thigh.
Lily Cole looked like a million dollars in a rich lace and embroidered dress from the house of Erdem.
A vision in this dramatic sequinned silhouette, Lily Donaldson was the face of Vivienne Westwood at the Closing Ceremony.
Stella Tennant took an androgynous turn in this bling-thing, plunging Christopher Kane wide-leg pantsuit.
The only male model to take part, David Gandy escorted the lovely Jourdan Dunn down the runway.
He was a dapper sight in a Paul Smith suit, while Jourdan wore a metallic colour-block gown by Jonathan Saunders, complemented by a feathery headdress by Stephen Jones.
And it was a double whammy from Spice Girl and fashion designer Victoria Beckham, who not only performed at the Closing Ceremony with her former bandmates, but also got to feature in the fashion special with model Georgia May Jagger in one of her designs -- a silky, flouncing olive cocktail.
Britain's elite fashion fraternity then got together onstage to make their mark...
...Posing in a circle, to reveal what the showing was all about -- truly, the best of British fashion.
