We bring you the best of runway from Day One of Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013, with showings by Debarun Mukherjee, Jatin Varma, Vijay Balhara, Shilpa Reddy and Payal Singhal.
Designer Debarun Mukherjee showed a classic yet contemporary collection titled “Ba-Dastoor” (Like Always).
Showcasing a line of saris, lehengas, layered dresses, kurtas and churidars, the designer recreated the glory of the past on the ramp.
The retro story of the collection continued for the menswear with short jackets, kurtas, bandhgalas, long flared coats and suits.
Designer Jatin Varma showed a seductively sensual collection titled From Eden to Paradise at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013.
Sexy corsets flowed into sheer layered curved skirts - some of which had a marked Parisian look.
The side layered peplums with sheer trails added a sensuous touch to the stunning collection.
Fringes and tassels on necklines and slashed leggings under transparent skirts and the jauntily positioned head gear gave that stylish touch to the dreamy creations.
Designer Shilpa Reddy’s collection was inspired by the 16th century warrior mother and queen “Suriyothai”, the queen of Siam.
Creating bridal wear of the unconventional kind, Shilpa used fragile fabrics like tulle and embellished them with embroidery and stone work inspired by Thai jewellery.
Seen here is model Manasvi Mamgai in an embroidered jacket with shimmering inner, worn with cropped harem pants.
Designer Shilpa Reddy glides down the ramp in a sensuous red and gold creation.
Designer Vijay Balhara presented a glamorous line of western wear at LFW called Muted Monologue.
Pure cotton, silk, chiffon, georgette and taffeta were splashed with hand embroidery using Indian craft techniques like Dabka, Nakshi, caviar beads and cut daana.
Gliding down the catwalk were models displaying maxis, gowns, skirts with provocative slits and minis, which were ideal formal wear.
Designer Payal Singhal displayed an utterly feminine Indo-west collection inspired by the four gardens of Persia or Char Bagh.
Model Sanea Sheikh struts her stuff in an asymmetric hemline kurta.
Russian model Anastasia Kuznetsova strikes a pose in an embroidered sherwani blouse teamed with Jodhpuri pants.
The international ramp model has walked the runway for international designers such as Max Azria, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Valentino, Givenchy, and Victoria's Secret.
Model-turned-actress Lisa Haydon closed the show in a blush lehenga, long sleeve choli and net dupatta.
