Meet Nijhum Patra, a student from the National Institute of Fashion Technology in Ahemdabad, who aspires to become a fashion designer after completing a management degree in marketing. Rediff caught her in a quick chat on the look she's built, her style statement, and style tips.
What's your ambition in life?
I am into fashion design right now and I plan to do my management in marketing. I want to become a fashion designer.
What's the duration of this course and tuition fees?
The fees are around Rs 50,000 per semester, and it is a four-year course, through eight semesters.
You have done something special to your eyes? Can we see what it is?
I tried to pull the Cleopatra look.
What's your style statement today?
I have tried to work the Sailor Girl look with these stripes and the bright shoes.
Share some of your style tips with us. How do you use make up? How do you dress up? What do you like to wear?
I am an eclectic. I love rain colours. Today, I tried to get a little subtle, but you can see colours in my shoes and clothes.
Style tip: You should wear what your body accepts more than what you think you look good in because at the end of the day people see you and they judge you by that.
Tell us what extra care do you take for your skin complexion? Your complexion is like Naomi Campbell...
It's a mix. I am half Assamese and half Bengali and that's what explains my complexion. I don't care for my skin much. I just bake in the sun half the time.
Who do you think is hot amongst Indian cricketers?
I think Virat Kohli and I've always had a soft corner for Irfan Pathan.
Tell us something about your clutch...
My dad bought it from Singapore and it's a floral clutch.
