Model Jennifer Sodhi

Model Jennifer Sodhi talks about hot men, finding roots in India and why she can never settle down here.

It is a little difficult to place Jennifer Sodhi. The light-eyed, five-foot something stunner may not necessarily pass off for an Indian girl but she surely comes close.

Sodhi's father is Punjabi and her mother is German. This is the her first time in India. She's been here before and stayed with her uncles and aunts in New Delhi.

But this trip is special. It will be the first time she is walking the ramp for Lakme Fashion Week. The few months that she plans to stay here, she is also hoping to take up some more modelling work before returning to Barcelona, where she currently lives.

In a quick interview, Jennifer Sodhi tells us more about herself and why she will never settle in India.

How long have you been a model?

It has been about a couple of years now since I have been modeling full time. But I have studied psychology. Modelling was something I wanted to try so I did.

How is the market in India for a foreign model such as yourself?

It is a good time to be a foreign model in India. There is more scope to find a foothold here now. People have been welcoming and I have been getting all the attention I need. It is a great feeling. I have done a few editorial shoots for Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Femina. Then there've also been a few jewellery shoots as well as a shoot for a sari catalogue.

So can you wear a sari now?

(Laughs!) No, unfortunately I can't. I did get a hang of it though, because at the shoot I had to change quite a few saris!

This isn't your first time to India is it? How has the experience been so far?

No. My father's family is in New Delhi so I have been there before. The Indian experience has been good so far. It has been a month since I landed and I plan to be here for another four months. The people here are very nice and warm and the food is great, though I'm not sure I want to make India my base because the culture is really different for me.
