Two distinct styles stood juxtaposed in a single show on Day Three of the Lakme Fashion Week.
With Krishna Mehta, known for her traditional Indian drapes on the one hand and Swapnil Shinde, the young designer whose obsession with the futuristic is well known, the penultimate show of Day Three at the Lakme Fashion Week was explosive to say the least.
Both designers stuck to their comfort zones. Mehta's collection aimed to be edgy and bold while being relaxed at the same time.
Seen here is the sexy Kavita Kharayat in one of Mehta's outfits.
The collection that started out in monochrome moved slowly towards bolder colours, the hint of which was first seen in this outfit.
Mehta goes all colour in this design worn by Dayana Erappa. Bandanas were the common constant in all her designs.
Using woven muslins, chanderis and silk, Mehta's line received a warm round of applause.
Krishna Mehta appears on the ramp. Not entirely comfortable with walking the length of the runway, she was egged on by the models. The beaming designer then walked three fourth of the way and seemed more than eager to get back.
In stark contrast from the easy going silhouettes before his show, designer Swapnil Shinde choose to go psychedelic and shock the audience with his designs. Femina Miss India Manasvi Mamgai opened the show for the young designer.
Seeking inspiration from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Shinde visualised the young Alice in a futuristic age 'high on life or just plain high'. Seen here is Bhoomika Arora in one of his designs.
Using acid pastels, geometric motifs, psychedelic tessellations and slinky metallic petals, Shinde chose to tell Alice's story in his signature style.
Archana Kumar walks the runway in one of Shinde's creations -- an off-shoulder evening gown with a sexy metallic colour corset.
